Finally Joan broke it. “Why me?”

“I saw you handle that room, and he wouldn’t have chosen you if there wasn’t something there.”

Joan didn’t need to ask who ‘he’ was. She thought for a few moments longer. “I want to be a doctor,” she said finally. “A real one. I want to learn how.”

“Okay.”

“Just like that? Just ‘okay’.”

Oh, I like that bit :) Lovely, and Joan's perfect.

I was my first thought afterwatching the episode 'she would so join Torchwood' i think it was the 'if you hadn't come here, on a whim. Would anybody have died?' line.
