It's SO sad to see them, because they don't want to admit they're not feeling their best! Dante in particular would sooner hide from me than come to let me know he was feeling under the weather, which is part of what scared me ~ if he could get THAT bad, how long had he been keeping it under control?
The segregation...you know, I think you hit it on the head a while back when you pointed out their attitude towards each other might have something to do with jealousy; since I realized that and made sure to give them equal attention in each others' presence, things have gotten much better. Neither one of them wants to share me, though, so the one who gets shut in the room I'm not in is furious. Wasn't a problem while Dante was sleeping all day, but once he got up and felt better...boy, can that cat cry!
I think when cats are sick, they do not instinctively go to humans for help. I don't even think they go to other cats. Cats are not groupies *g*! They isolate. So -- I see that as symptom all it's own.
Also -- cats go "away" to die. If they are outside cats, lots of times they won't come home. (When I was 13 our cat just "disappeared" - and a few weeks later a neighbor found her hidden away in a bush (so, so sad)
Yeah cats in general are good actors/actresses and can hide their illnesses and injuries quite well. Several of my past cats masked their colds and sniffles.
If it cleared up that quickly, it was probably allergies, then. Noodles still has the sneezles. It's actually kinda cute, he winds up doing this little strong, repetitive sneeze that makes him sound like he's barking.

LOL to segregation of kitties. They are relentless in their protests aren't they!
