Hehee, yup, it's almost like that momentary grooming is a recharging method. "Whoa, I need a little break...*lick, lick*...okay, I'm good." Either that, or the equivalent of our stopping mid-sentence to snap our fingers and try to remember something.
The litter box thing sounds just about like a little kid who's really into playing, and putting it off till the last possible minute before making a mad dash to the toilet, not wanting to miss a second of playtime. Heh. It's all good. =^.^=
Hold tight to the kitten memories. They remain that way for such a short time, and it's amazing how much you forget. It's cool that you are writing about it in your journal so you can remember later!
Oh, totally. Especially after losing Szara, and there being so many things I'd forgotten completely (I'm still updating the Memories of Szara entry almost daily)...there are just so many things that are fun to look back and remember later.
You're not replacing Szara, you're just balming a gaping wound. The kitty isn't replacing Szara in that hole in your heart, he's just going to help fill it, so it doesn't hurt as much.
Hang in there. And don't force the two of them to be friends... cats take time.
Oh, you did warn me. You did. And I won't forget it.
That's the best way anyone's put it, "balming a gaping wound." So exactly right, too.
Don't you worry, there will be no forcing whatsoever. You can't make a cat do anything...which is the main reason I love them so much. When a cat does something for you, or for anything besides itself, it's because the cat wants to. That makes it feel so amazing when they want to be with you, or with another cat. It's almost like a miracle.

Reading this entry makes me smile. He's already so much bigger than he was when I brought him home. He's not a floppy sleeper anymore. Dante doesn't hate him. His claws aren't so sharp after being trimmed (though they grow incredibly fast). And his fur is getting sleeker, rather than fluffy, but it'll always be fluffier than Dante's.
His voice is lower, but still squeaky. I swear he knows how cute it is and mews that high on purpose. He's still skittish, but not so much when he's with me. Most things he does are still cute, but he also gets himself into regular trouble as well. And he *tries* to get into the tiny places, but it doesn't work so well as it used to.
I'm very, very glad I wrote this entry. It's very good to remember these little things; I never would have otherwise. But then, isn't that what a journal's for? =^.~=

There was a few times where she would be playig, then just jets to her litter box. Haven't seen that in a while though.
