No-shows

It's summer. Many people feel best when it is bright and warm out. They don't feel they need therapy. I understand this. I realize that in the winter is when we are supposed to have our largest number of clients due to weather and the holidays ( Read more... )

Yes, yes, yes! It is good to hear that my clinic at ULM is not the only one dealing with multiple no-shows this summer! One theory I've heard is that people experience feelings of relief after having just made the appointment b/c two things have happened: 1) They've admitted they need the help and can stop fighting against themselves now, and 2) They've connected with someone who is willing, interested, and able to help them. So, Relief sets in and they begin to feel so much better that they wonder if they really need the appointment after all. Of course they do, but it takes another week without the help to fully realize that ( ... )

I so feel you on that one. Its so frustrating when you are there, you are ready to see them and they call the next day wanting a new appt. Grr. As for getting your required hours, thats tough when it's in the hands of a client but I've found that if you schedule more than you need, often times it works itself out.
