Finished book # 12 last night! Now I'm on to my alternates list and anything else that suits my fancy. I always go on a reading binge before NaNo - we'll see how many I fly through this year :)
While I didn't dislike it, it definitely wasn't my cup o' tea. I found the Victorian tone to be completely off-putting. I'm fine with some formality once in a while, but this was over the top. Actually, it was utterly appropriate for the book, so I'm not complaining. It's just not the usual Gibson fare I'm addicted to these days.
Too much Sterling, not enough Gibson ;) I think I need to go re-read All Tomorrow's Parties to clear my head.
I read somewhere (Gibson's blog? An interview?) that Gibson feels The Difference Engine is his best writing, and the only one of his works that he's comfortable re-reading.
