Wow! So many things for me to squee over! I absolutely love Pike all the more for his own introspection about Farnham after learns about his feelings and how he chewed out Barnett. Of course, Barnett's enough of an ass to take it out on Kirk, but hopefully he'll be more careful since Pike is watching.

Loved Dael, even if I hurt for her over her brother. And I almost felt sympathy for Farnham, but not quite.

Most of all I adore this series, just missed those other two something awful and feel doubly bad for Pike because that's his lot in life.

Wonderful!
*hugs*

Thank you for the great feedback! Glad to find introspective Pike worked for you. Almost-sympathy for Farnham was my goal, so I'm happy that worked too :)

Yeah, there's quite a lack of Kirk/McCoy in this part, but they're away and it's part of the whole deal, so there's just no easy "solution"...

What I really like about what you're doing in Draws VIII (and the whole series actually) is that you don't make things simple. Real life connections with people are messy and so is Chris' life. That he and his new protege are perhaps engaging in behavior that would be condemned but that it's not actually about sex. That John can love him and Chris can not want his love and they resolve it to a certain degree but they don't fix it. It's a very thought provoking section (and series).

Thank you for this feedback! I try to be rather realistic in this series, and I'm glad it comes across accordingly :))

Meticulous, aching, gorgeous, beautifully drawn. Dael, Farnham, Barnett, the care and detail of all of this.

But this is what has me on tenterhooks.

One virus might be enough to stop them.
... It might be possible to restore individuality of assimilated persons, which would destroy the system from within.

Hmm. A half-biological, half-computerized virus, designed to reboot a near-unbeatable, near-flawless system?

Where on Earth (or on Enterprise?) are you going to come up with someone(s) who can come up with a virus like that? Much less the ability to deliver the virus?

I honestly haven't given much thought to the detailed Borg solution here yet, but Pike would undoubtedly have some specialists working in it (or would try to find some). He's mostly organizing and he has the overview of what that would be needed besides the weapons, and that's mostly a question of politics. So that's the point where he can actively do something, as opposed to basic research on the Borg details.

Ah, and the Borg of Reboot are NOT the Borg of TNG yet. They're on their way but since the Federation learned about them much earlier now, they're going to be a lot more prepared and if they make a preemptive strike, there will never be a Wolf 359.

Oh, I LOVE that tobacco is illegal, and so is discrimination based on sexual preference. Heh.

And my GOD does Chris get himself into complicated emotional situations, even if (or maybe especially because?) he's not comfortable with those emotions to begin with. The thing with Farnham, didn't see that coming. Hope that Barnett doesn't cause trouble for Kirk and McCoy...

That Pike is rather blind to the emotions of others (and his own) is definitely part of the reason for ending in complicated situations *G*

/spoil The thing with Barnett will end up fine *eyes draft*
