bridge2sickbay drabbles of 2009-11-22 :)

Last Sunday, the theme was song lyrics, which was inspiring a pile of prompts (even with eight rounds, they had AFAIS to throw away twenty *g*). And whoa, this was a big Pike!Night for me :)
Kirk (gen) - I need no sympathy because I'm easy come, easy go. )

Oh, I like these a lot. For unexplainable reasons, my favourite is the exploration of Pike's thoughts as he goes to face Nero. The last line I found especially touching because in my mind, what Pike does requires much more courage than a quick death in a collision. But it's fitting for Pike. He seems like someone who's quite strict with himself and of course, George Kirk is his hero. Very interesting piece.

Thanks a lot for your feedback! Pike is so great and cool in the face of impeding doom *swoons a little*

I'm not sure George Kirk is his hero (he probably has a bunch of role models without having a hero complex), but I see Pike spending so much time with the Kelvin dissertation and the eternal question of every officer (how he would react in a no-win-situation) that he can't help feeling strongly connected to him.

Well, I got a little of an "i am not as worthy" vibe from his thoughts about George and took that as indication that he thought of George as hero. ;-)

Right. However, that makes me think of one of leftarrow's fabulous Pike/Kirk fics, where Kirk states that his father isn't more of a hero than e.g. Robeau, because he only did what he had to do, and Pike agrees. Because it simply is a captain's duty.

I think Pike's feelings on the subject vary, depending on his mood and situation. Mine would, at least.

I like the Kirk gen one a lot. Seeing the DVD made me want more missing moments fics.

The two Pike/McCoy ficlets made me ridiculously happy, they both have that hard and needy spontaneity about them that makes me love this pairing so much. But I also loved Vendetta with that perfect hint of Pike being a bit of a vindictive bastard (and admitting it!) and the last one with McCoy/Chekov... well, I have a bit of a soft spot for that pairing, and moments like that are exactly why. *g*

Hey sweetie! Happy you liked my Pike/McCoy takes because I've just swooned over your story and will feedback as soon as I find words again :)

I've also a soft spot for McCoy/Chekov, yum. Chekov would make him smile, he totally would. Thanks for the feedback!

Awww. I especially like the emotions in the last one, although of course I enjoyed all the Pike goodness too!

Thank you! I think that was my favorite week of all, now that I re-read the ficlets. Song lyrics are very inspiring.
