One more problem I foresee for the SarcMark: when it's sized for use in text, it's going to get confused with the ampersand (@) too easily. Sure, it's mirrored from the @, and dotted rather than truly looped -- but resolutions aren't always sufficient to provide that space, especially at small size onscreen.

I think I'll stick with as my indicator.

That's the at sign, although something so ornate does deserve a name with more dignity. (Certainly not "monkey tail".) Ampersand is this guy: "&".

But agreed - those little swirls are going to be indistinguishable.

I'd prefer to think this is a joke rather than a serious attempt to influence the way people communicate - although licensing the character (at $2/person) suggests that the designers hope to have the new iPod "fart" app, aomething that people might buy because it is cheap and funny.
