So daisho posted this question in his LJ, from someone else who posted it in hers, and I like it enough that I'm posting it here:

When did you start reading? What were your favourite books when you were a kid?I don't remember exactly when I learned to read, but my mom has a letter I wrote to Santa when I was 3 1/2 years old, so I was reading and writing

This is a great post to read because it sounds so much like my childhood - if a tad different. ;) I think I'm going to steal this lj-question and put it in mine as well.

Man, 3 1/2 is really young! :-) I don't think I started reading/writing until I was 4, but I honestly can't hardly remember back then anyway, so I'm not really sure when I first started. I think I'd have to ask my parents

I read those illustrated classics, too! I read "The Time Machine" that way, I remember, and a few others. I know there were more, but I can't remember them.

I read '20,000 leagues under the sea' and 'the three musketeers' in that format originally. Good times!
In fact, sometimes I still recall the imagery when reading those books.
