That does look really cool. Do you use it for NaNoWriMo?

Oh yes! I swear by it. I've won every year since I got it!

Neato idea!

I have one that looks like the other in the comparative picture.

I wish they had backlit screens and larger screens at that... but then maybe the batteries wouldn't last quite as long.

The Dana comes with a backlit screen, and from what I've heard the batteries don't last nearly as long.

The green is the original color of the Neo. I don't know why they picked that green instead of a nice black or navy!

Excellent job on the paint. My Neo2 is still factory color. What is next for you, a career in graffiti tagging? ;)

BTW, where did you get the new keys?

Have a great NaNo 2K9!

They keys are the same original keys! I popped them off and painted them, then made stickers using a label maker borrowed from work. I got the clear tape for the label maker, and then cut out the letters to stick them on the keys. It was a bit tedious, but definitely worth it.

I'm getting a Neo!!! naturally i looked up this old post from when you painted yours because i'm thinking a purple Neo would be quite fetching. i wondered how well did the clear plastic lable hold up on your Neo after a year? also, do i remember you actually posting a "How to" on painting this? i thought i remembered it from somewhere but i can't recall. THANKS.

your friend,

You know, I don't think I ever did make a "how-to", but there are some pictures here and I KNOW there was a more detailed bunch of pictures of a Neo being taken apart but I can't find them anywhere now.

The good news is that I need to redo mine, because I'm a dummy and didn't pay attention when the instructions on the paint said to wait a couple hours between coats. I'll try to take pictures this time of the whole process and post them up.

Also, the clear plastic labels ended up being pretty bad. They were just too thick, and the corners didn't stay down very well. I'll be replacing those when I repaint.
