faith no more: "a broken soul stares from a pair of watering eyes...."

At the risk of sounding very politically incorrect, the Faith No More song "Surprise! You're Dead" is probably not the song to be listening to today, especially when reading the USA Today's print edition (and their grossly inaccurate headlines ( Read more... )

*huggles* It's probably a combination of things that are putting you in such a fun place. You can start on recovery by *not* getting that liqueur after work. :P

Thank you so much. *hugs*

Yeah, I could cut back on drinking, or go back into more moderation....

If you're worried about drinking too much, maybe you should pick up a bottle of milk and just enjoy some chocolate milk!

Could it be that the mood swings are the result of the additional drinking, instead of the other way around?

Hmmm. How about some chocolate milk (or chocolate soy milk) and mint schnapps? Mmmmm. ;)

Yeah, I am bad. Maybe the mood swings are due to the drinking. That's something I hadn't considered before. But now that I have that in my consciousness, I will think twice before pouring a glass.

*hugs*

It's the winter blues! I've been feeling it to.. know whats been helping me? Walking at least an hour a day. Straight.. no stops. It's refreshing! I tend to drink more in the winter too.. and indulge in sweets..mmm. I don't think it's a bad thing. Just make sure you get lots of exercise, it combats depression!

Ah, thank you so much for the perspective. I want to take more walks and getting other exercises in.

I've been doing good things though--like spending time with quality friends. Speaking of which, I'd love to do Arabian Breeze with you and Eric someday!

I have recently discovered that I love beets, especially in salads. The best way to prepare them is to roast them (unpeeled) in the oven.
Slice off the very tips and put them in a pan with a little bit of water, cover with aluminum foil and bake at ~400 until tender. Then they will be easy to peel.
After they've cooled, add a dash of salt and a teaspoon or so of balsamic vinegar, and let them sit for a few minutes to absorb both. (I can dig up an actual recipe with more exact proportions of you like). Then just throw them is salads like you would any other vegetable, they are great. Sometimes I'll even skip the salt and vinegar and just them roasted plain. They are very sweet, and much better than any nasty canned versions you may have had in the past.
