maybe I should read the series in order?

Wow, so the book I was reading just turned into full on Kit Marlowe/Will Shakespeare yaoi. Complete with rose petal skin, dusky curls, and a single strand of saliva stretched between their mouths.

.....ok!

outside of a dog...

BUT WHAT BOOK IS IT

Ink & Steel by Elizabeth Bear. She actually does very well at building not just a dialogue but a narrative that sounds Elizabethan! But I am not accepting that as an excuse here.

I wrote her off after Racefail. My mixed feelings are now...even more mixed.

Without getting too deeply into a Racefail discussion... in this particular case, I don't think there's any deeper failing going on than prose failure.

...although I do remember her having pulled a 'it's so funny people think I'm writing queer men for my own satisfaction, when I'm actually a queer woman!' That boggled me some.

eta because by the time I wrote this comment I forgot to include: until you said so, I actually didn't realize she WAS matociquala.

Apparently the other books in the series have nothing to do with this time period--THERE WAS NO WAY TO PREPARE.

I really do feel for you, except not.... since the reference I was about to use was a gay one and I was expecting horrible gay sex. lulz. Annnnd I believe the single strand of saliva is supposed to be a kinky thing, like a flushed face or an obscene amount of sweat??

Lol

I'd read it.

Since it sounds like I could have written it.

I will neither recommend nor...whatever the opposite is. XD

Commend, surely.

(Or maybe more likely 'condemn' since commend is surely not a word)
