I am rushing off for four days of vacation (eee!) but before I go, I MUST post to tell everyone to go download This Is How It Works, a video by lim which she says was inspired by "Freedom's Just Another Word For Nothing Left To Lose" -- it's beautiful technical artistry, incredibly lovely, well-timed, perfect song/visual match, and it says the most ( Read more... )

That was wonderful, thank you. I loved the whole look and feel and rhythm of it, but I was especially struck with the image of John during that toast - you really made it look like a memory.

That bit struck me so hard. I was absolutely floored. I never noticed that he looked into the camera before - I watch SGA on the darkest monitor in the history of world and miss a lot of nuances (like during Grace Under Pressure, I never once saw the whale, and at first had no idea what everyone else was talking about), so I'm not sure if it was obvious to other viewers of if you were just that amazingly detail-oriented and noticed.

But, damn. The use of their leaving-Earth shots - the coin toss and Rodney giving up the cat, along with the text from the story - that bit, wow. And I am slightly incoherent because this is an incredibly, incredibly unusual, beautiful vid and I haven't got the words for it.

This is amazing. And - brilliant and interesting and monumental in its own right, and an amazing accompaniment to the story. (And if there was ever a vid I would offer up large sums of money to see a DVD commentary for, this would be it.)

*flail* So awesome!

I'm a bit uncomfortable with all this praise.

It's deserved. That is the single best vid I've ever seen. I gave it a small homage in the last line of the ficlet I wrote in response to synecdochic's story, and to your vid. Since I'd read you were shy about the praise, I didn't link to or mention it. Still, thank you. It's good work.

The link to the M4v actually goes to the other file as well; would you repost it? It'd be lovely to put this in the 'pod.
Thanks in any case.

No, please don't go away. It's a beautiful vid, and I love the song, too. I'm watching and listening obsessively.
