the naming of menus is a curious thing

Take a look at, say, this. The links (in the current layout, in a graphical browser, they are to the right of the statistics) saying things like Grant Access/Subscribe/Track User/Send Message form a menu. We need to call that menu something, and our doc team is having a rough time figuring out what, so

I think maybe "profile action" or "profile navigation" are a little hollow sounding and maybe something different for the link titles too? I'd think "User interaction menu" would be better. :)

I agree--User Interaction is what I think of; to me, profile navigation is the menu about your bio, your subscribers, etc. And Profile Action seems like stuff that you're doing to your own profile.

Navigation links make me think you're going away from the profile to some other place. Action links describe functionality while leaving flexibility in case more profile menus are added later.

That's where I was heading, also.... it doesn't feel like any of the tasks you were proposing had much to do with what I think of when one says "profile".

User Menu and User Interaction both spring to mind first but that's when we /know/ what's in the menu - when of course a menu's name should be clear to indicate just that to someone who doesn't know it yet/ In that respect both fail, imo, because they drag the mind to other places.

Now, perhaps 'User InteractionS', plural, would help clarify ('this is going to be a list of possible interactions'). Or perhaps something even further away, removing the vocabulary of 'user': 'Relationships' ? Didn't you name the whole T+F from WTF 'Circle'? In which case could this be, if not 'manage Circle' (I know that's something else), at least something close to that? Related? *thinks* Hmm.
