Mostly all I can think in response to your final Q/A there is, if I weren't thoroughly settled on the West Coast (married, own a house, &c), and y'all didn't live in a one-room apartment I might offer to move in and pay rent in groceries and bodywork on both of you.
The liver's ability to filter alcohol and medications is extremely variable from person to person - if the dr is telling you that your AST and ALT levels are above normal or higher, you should be concerned. I've been struggling with stage 1 liver failure for several years now and it's just amazed me how little we understand about the liver. The field has been revolutionized in the last 10 years - my type of non-viral hepatitis was named 10 years ago and was determined to lead to liver failure only 5 years ago.
So if the doc is just telling you to be careful with alcohol due to the pain medication you're on, you can kind of ignore it and use your common sense. However, if the blood tests are showing AST or ALT levels above 43, you should be careful as it can lead to liver damage. Which in turn can lead to liver failure and transplant/death.
Oh yes, acting. I learned so many valuable things from that. To this day I will block any scenes with any amount of complicated action, which leads to things like having to lay out a living room so that all the people who need to be present will fit into it (if badly), so that I can then trace the movements of all important characters. Sometimes I'll write the lines first, then add in the blocking, and then rewrite the lines so that they make more sense with the blocking, because people will sometimes talk to the furniture, or at least *about* the furniture.
And adding blocking will sometimes have me up and pacing, or up and working through the blocking, sometimes on both (or all) sides of it, just so I can feel it and figure out what comes next based on the line and who and where they are.

The funny thing is I'm not actually kidding much.
Hope the hip's doing better.
