This was really terrific! It set off all sorts of echoes and correspondences in my head -- I'll be sorting them out all day.
This is like the beginning of a good caper movie, where all the parts are laid out and you start to guess how they'll fit together, only in reverse. And that's my favorite part of my favorite kind of movie.
Thank you! I'm still a little bit startled about how this complex interweaving political storyline showed up in my domestic schmoop, but I have come to realize that I should simply shut up and go where the story takes me. *laugh*
Thank you! (And thank you for getting me started about thinking about Jack and Sam and their awkward limping halting progress towards peace; it probably would have been a different story without your take on things. *g*)
Reynolds is awesome and I adore him. I'm not sure why he has to be a Nathan -- and, more specifically, "Nat" and not "Nate" -- but he just does, dammit! And the show couldn't make up its mind about whether he was Air Force or Marine, but man, in my head, he's Marine all the way on through: doing the impossible, with the inadequate, for the ungrateful, and making it look effortless.
I loved the 'sunrise' bit. There was going to be so much more to that section, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized that no, all we need to know is that Cam knows his long winter is finally, finally over, even if spring isn't quite yet here ...
Thank you! I think you're right; in a lot of ways, Sam is the one of them who has the least damage from her years on SG-1, although if you squint at it in another direction she has more than her fair share -- but she's found her core over the years, she's found her strength, despite the boxes everyone wants to put her in. I kind of adore her to bits and pieces and beyond.
I CANNOT BELIEVE that you made Sam/Jack actually cute! And it's totally what's needed to contrast with the exhaustion of the clean-up and poor Spence. I find myself vaguely wondering if we could fix him up with Theo.
