Last night, for the first time ever, I had a nightmare that I couldn't wake up from. When I did finally get the dream to dissolve I was interested to discover I had a full-on case of sleep paralysis. Sleep paralysis is a BITCH sometimes. I get it frequently; I always look at it as my soul coming back out of the earth; poetic but that's how it feels, like I am rising back into my body.

Ah, sleep paralysis. Used to be a frequent visitor of mine when younger, and as a result I became a professional at sleeping under the covers entirely.

The coping mechanism that developed involves getting angry enough that I wake up and start moving again, which unfortunately has the same result as the fear; i.e. too adrenalined up to go back to sleep any time soon.
