Ink'd

I am so paranoid about my tattoos -- I'm searching all over the internet to find out if the way they are healing is "normal." I'm completely paranoid about ink loss, but I'm afraid to over- or under-moisturize. Also, because of where they are (underside of wrists) EVERYTHING rubs them despite my best intentions otherwise. The worst of the ( Read more... )

have you tried tattoo goo? I've used it on all my tattoos (the oringial tattoo goo for the first few days, then the tattoo lotion after that) and it's been fantastic

I haven't. I've been using Vitamin A+D cream alternating with cetaphil (sp?) lotion. I tried lubriderm but it stung like the dickens so i decided to stick with the non-stingy stuff.

you know, I actually did have some ink loss on the tattoo on my back. They touched it up after it healed and it looks completely homogenous now, so, worst case scenario, they can fix it...

the one on my hip actually had enough color and detail that they wouldn't have been able to do that so thankfully that one healed perfectly.

I used tattoo goo for the first one and lubriderm for the second one. just goes to show that different people/tats react differently. have you looked into a hypo-allergenic lotion?

both were along my waistline area so I completely empathize with the whole rubbing/going-freaking-crazy thing.

H2Ocean = your new best friend. Antimicrobial, antifungal, antibacterial, doesn't smell like ass or babies, soothes on contact, hella moisturizing power. That's what I used for the one on my foot and I didn't scab at all, just peeled. I did lose a tiny bit of color but that's because it was inked over a rough part of my foot, in the bend of my ankle, and my jeans kind of rubbed sometimes, but it's not terribly noticeable and I don't care because the whole look I was going for was more of an antique-y look. But yeah, I'd swear by H2Ocean.

I'm just way excited because I got an idea for my second tattoo, the one I want to get to commemorate my upcoming graduation (12/14, woo!), so I'll be in Photoshop tonight designing it and then taking it to my artist so I can get a price range and see how much I'll need to save. I'll be using H2Ocean again, too, that's for sure.

I know that this is going to be a DUH comment, but if its really getting that irritated do you think you should just give in and keep it bandaged for part of the day? Yes, I know you should let it breathe, but what's worse for it, keeping it wrapped or having it banged and scratched all to heck?
