This was written ages ago as a Secret Santa gift for valentineninja over at ffchaoticcosmos, and somehow I neglected to cross post it here for ages. Which I guess is kind of fitting, given the title. Better late than never!

That was so sad and lovely, perfectly fitting in with 012's bittersweet ending.

I know we all went into Duodecim knowing that things were never going to end well for Team Canon Fodder, but it still kind of broke my heart. As did the fact that as you unlock the timeline, it becomes clear that Cloud pretty much meets Tifa and then goes straight away to face Chaos to try to save her. That’s a pretty extreme reaction and shows how close their bond is, even if you took it as just them being friends. And then that and the FFVII nostalgia kind of took over, and the fic happened- thanks for reading!

Thanks, Cloud and Tifa were probably my first FFVII ship, so I’m glad I managed to get them OK even though I’ve not played the game in ages. I’m still kind of bitter there wasn’t any more interaction between them in Duodecim (mostly because it made this really hard to write, because hey, only one cutscene D:), but I guess if it was enough to go on for this fic then it’s all well and good!
