He might be, but dammit, when one of the strongest players takes a week off, of course it's gonna affect us. Tachibana-san never just sat in reserves, at least he was always singles 1 or 2. >_
Oi! Gakuto wanted a shot at playing singles, so we gave him a shot at playing singles. Since Sengoku-san's a singles player, it only made sense for the captain to be the one to give up his spot for him. We're one of the few teams with enough people to have a reserve, so it's not like we can all play every week.
Jus' sayin', the captain should play. >_< Or at least try. At least. We might not've lost then, y'know? Hell, I beat him at singles and he's still putting me in god damned doubles games. The hell's up with that.
It's 'cause with your speed, you make a really good doubles partner. If you cover the baseline, you can catch pretty much anything the net player misses, right? And Kai-san won his match! And...no one would've fared better against ochibi than Kin-chan did.
If Kin-chan's the best player on our team - which he is - why on earth did we sacrifice him in a match that he might've not won? If we'da switched around Gakuto and Kin-chan, we would've won. This is why I shoulda been captain. >
