A/N: This fan fiction was inspired by and loosely based on the Taiwanese drama "Down with Love." This is also unbetaed so I apologize for any mistake I made.

Chapter 4:

Jaejoong shuffled his feet and wondered if this was a good idea. For one thing, he’s never had a job before and second, he’s never been good with kids. The last time he held a baby, the baby had cried, and had to be given back to her mother immediately. Besides, looking after a bunch of six year olds would definitely hinder his mission of finding his father.

But Jin had convinced him otherwise. “Jung Yunho is a lawyer,” Jin had told him. “You can ask for his help.”

“I don’t see why I should become a nanny to his niece and nephew when I can just approach him,” Jaejoong had grumbled as Jin dyed his hair blond. It was going to be part of his new disguise.

Jin had rolled his eyes. “Sure, just go and say, ‘I’m Crown Prince Jaejoong and I’m looking for my father. My only clue is that my mother studied in Seoul National University. Can you demand that their records be inspected?’ Not only would there be a public scandal, your royal ass would immediately be dragged back to Japan, and the Council would have my head.”

Jaejoong had puffed out his cheeks. “I was going to hire a private investigator.”

“Same effect.” Jin had finished colouring Jaejoong’s hair and had set the timer. “And where would you get the money to pay for their services?” The money Ryo had given Jaejoong had not been much and most of it, Jaejoong had already spent for basic necessities such as food (because it really wasn’t his fault that he didn’t know how to cook and only relied on fast food to get by).

“But a nanny?”

“You’ve always said you wanted to experience being normal,” Jin had then placed the blue contacts in Jaejoong’s hand. “Welcome to the real world.”

And that was how Jaejoong found himself in the middle of all this scrutiny. The twins kept staring at him as if he had two heads and it seemed as if the butler was sneering at him. Jung Yunho, on the other hand, held on a passive expression as he looked at Jaejoong. His boss was easy on the eyes, Jaejoong mused. Tall, dark, and handsome with the classic good looks and a good upbringing, in addition to his wealth and brilliance. Jaejoong decided to meet Yunho’s gaze head-on, blue eyes on chocolate brown ones, neither flinching nor averting.

It was Yunho who blinked first. Jaejoong grinned and clapped his hands in glee. “Score! I win!” A little bit longer, his contacts would have dried, and there would have been tears in his eyes.

“Are you sure about hiring him, Yunho?” The butler asked with evident distaste. Changmin watched Jaejoong jump up and down like a lunatic, as if winning was that big of a deal. Yunho just kept rubbing his eyes, wondering when he even participated in the staring contest at the first place.

Jin only smacked Jae on the head. “Behave. You’re not really making a good first impression.”

Jaejoong stopped jumping and had the decency to look sheepish. “Sorry, I just got a bit excited. I never win in staring contests because Pi always beats me and the rest cannot even look me in the eye-”

Jin stomped his foot. If he let Jaejoong continue, the latter would have definitely revealed everything. “Hero can talk quite a lot.”

“Your Korean’s good for someone who lived in America, Hero-ssi.” Yunho finally spoke up.

“My father is Korean,” Jaejoong figured he didn’t need to lie about that bit. “So it’s only natural that I learn the language.”

“I assume your English is also up to par?” Yunho motioned to Soo Jin and Tae Jin, who was still staring at Jaejoong. “Their teacher told me that they’re having some trouble with theirs. It would be nice if you could also help them with their English lessons.”

“I will try my best.” Jaejoong said in English. He turned to Soo Jin and Tae Jin, bent down, and smiled at them. “Hello, I am Hero. What are your names?”

Changmin thought his English was better. Jin was only thankful that Jaejoong actually knew how to speak English. (The two of them had an argument about where Hero supposedly came from - Jin was for America, Jaejoong was for France - what it came down to was that Jaejoong had been forced to learn English and knew next to nothing of French.)

In response, Soo Jin touched Jaejoong’s cheek. “Hana.”

Jaejoong’s brows furrowed. “What?”

Soo Jin continued poking Jaejoong’s cheek. “Hana.” Then she poked Jaejoong’s nose. “Hana.” Then Jaejoong’s left eye. “Hana.”

“Aw!” Jaejoong yelped, as his left eye started to water. Just then, Tae Jin pulled Jaejoong’s hair. Hard. “Hana’s hair is too short!” Tae Jin then kicked Jaejoong on the shin, with the desired effect of Jaejoong slumping down to the ground in pain.

“Hana is Soo Jin’s life-sized doll,” Changmin informed Jaejoong gleefully. Jin could only muffle his laughter. It’s not every day that he could see the Crown Prince with tears in his eyes, literally trying to get the kids out of his hair. Soo Jin had followed her brother’s lead and had also started tugging on Jae’s hair. The twins pulled, tangled, and knotted Jaejoong’s hair, with every intention of fixing (braiding) it afterwards.

Yunho sighed. The twins had found themselves a new toy. “I supposed I better give you a raise, Hero-ssi.”

“I’m sorry to keep you waiting.” Yunho bowed deeply as he greeted his client. After making sure that his niece and nephew would be safe in the hands of their new nanny, Yunho had left the house for his lunch meeting. When he arrived at the restaurant, Yoochun was already there, making small talk with their client.

“You must be Yunho.” The potential client of Jung, Park, and Associates held out his hand. “I’ve heard so much about you from your father.”

“Good things, I hope.” Yunho took the hand that had been held out and grasped it firmly. The best way to describe Yunho’s relationship with his father was that it was civil at most. Jung Yongmin was one of Seoul’s best litigators. After graduation and passing the bar examinations, Yunho had joined his father’s law firm, Jung and Associates. Every one had expected him to follow his father’s footsteps. But working for his father, Yunho felt as if every move he made as a lawyer had been controlled - Yongmin had a say in everything he did and it made Yunho frustrated that whenever he won a case, it wasn’t attributed to his capabilities as a lawyer but because of who his father was.

When Yoochun had proposed to Yunho that they form their own law firm (because Yoochun was also tired of having a superior from a huge-size firm telling him what to do), the latter did not have to think twice. When Yunho left his father’s law firm, Yongmin had thought of it as a betrayal. The last time they had spoken to each other was at his older brother and his wife’s funeral. Yongmin did not even put up much of a fight when the will revealed his grandchildren would be under Yunho’s care.

“I don’t need to introduce myself.” Every one in South Korea knew of the billionaire Kim Minho, CEO of Kim Industries, whose products ranging from television sets to brand new cars, have been exported all over the world. “And I’ll cut to the chase: I want Jung, Park and Associates to be Kim Industries’ in-house counsel.” An in-house counsel would represent the corporation whenever there were legal issues and disputes to be settled.

Yunho looked at Minho evenly. “The last I heard, Jung and Associates are your in-house counsel.”

“There was a misunderstanding.” Minho shrugged. “I have already terminated their services.”

The waiter arrived with their food - it was Kim Minho’s treat. “If you don’t mind,” Yoochun said. “Why do you want to hire us?”

“I would think that is obvious.” Minho tilted his head. “Yunho is Jung Yongmin’s son.”

“Then we refuse.” Yunho replied stiffly. “I am different from my father.”

“Yunho.” Yoochun began. He knew that Jung Yongmin was a touchy subject for his best friend. But having Kim Minho as a client of their firm would further establish Jung, Park, and Associates’ reputation more than what it was now. And admittedly, with what Kim Minho was offering as payment for their services, their law firm would survive even with only Kim Minho as their client. “Why don’t we listen to what else Minho-ssi has to say?”

“I’ve heard enough.” Yunho said. “Even if having Kim Minho as a client would benefit our firm, I wouldn’t accept him as one, if he doesn’t believe in our firm’s own capabilities. I do not want to become a shadow of my father’s.”

Minho laughed. “Your father was right. You are too proud for your own good. Why does it matter if I believe in your law firm or not? Shouldn’t you be flattered that I want to hire you?”

“Minho-ssi, if you’re going to continue like this, maybe it’s better if we move this meeting at a later date.” Yoochun stepped in before Yunho could say something he might regret. “You’re not really making a good impression right now and our firm has a policy of only accepting clients that we feel we would like to give our services to.”

“Then prove to me that I can believe in your own capabilities,” Minho challenged them. “Prove to me that you can be much better than Jung and Associates.”

The gods must be laughing at him; Jaejoong slumped down on his new bed, after a long day. His head was heavy, feeling the brunt of his hair being braided. His scalp still felt sore and it didn’t help that the butler (whose name was Changmin) had provided the twins with the kit needed to play with his hair for an hour. After which Jaejoong was prohibited from removing the braids and he had to endure being laughed at by Changmin (and the rest of the household staff) as they played hide and seek. The twins had invited the rest of the household staff (minus Jin, who had to drive Yunho to his meeting) to play with them and Changmin thought that it was a good way for Jaejoong to know his way around the house.

The house wasn’t a mansion but it was still huge. It was an up and down two-storey house, with a wide backyard, a pool, and a garage that can accommodate three cars. Jaejoong had no problem memorizing where everything was, especially when he was always tagged “It.” He spent the rest of the afternoon chasing after the twins, running up and down the house, and searching every nook and cranny of the house for them. Jaejoong didn’t even bother looking for the others during hide and seek - he already had enough trouble with the twins.

The hide and seek had been cut short when it was already time for dinner. Jaejoong’s stomach grumbled but instead of eating in peace, Soo Jin and Tae Jin kept stealing food from his plate. In the end, Jae really had not gotten to eat much. By that time, Changmin had decided to take pity on him - the butler finally offered to prepare Soo Jin and Tae Jin for their baths and also put them to bed.

One of the servants led Jaejoong to his room. It was a guest room which had been converted to the nanny’s room and where all of the twins’ nannies had stayed. The servant, Rini, was talkative. She informed Jaejoong that the butler wasn’t really a butler - Shim Changmin had been “adopted” by the young Master when the former was fifteen - and Changmin had just put it upon himself to care for the household. She also told Jaejoong that Soo Jin and Tae Jin had come to live with the young Master a year ago, when the twins’ parents had died. “Since then, no nanny had lasted for more than two weeks,” Rini winked at him. “Maybe you’ll be the first one, Hero.”

Jaejoong had finally removed the braids from his hair, before slumping down on the bed, face burrowed into the pillows. It had been a long tiring day and the thought of there being more days like this did not cheer him up one bit. He groaned. “I shouldn’t have listened to Jin.” Jin just wanted him out of the apartment. But then, Jae supposed he couldn’t really rely on Jin for the rest of his stay in South Korea.

He didn’t know how long he had napped, but Jaejoong got woken up by the sound of his stomach grumbling. He still hadn’t changed his clothes as he got out of bed, with every intention of going to the kitchen to look for a snack. He opened the door and went face to face with Jung Yunho, who had just come home. Jaejoong’s room was the first door to the right, at the top of the staircase.

Yunho regarded the newest nanny in surprise. “Shouldn’t you be putting the twins to bed?”

“Changmin-ssi volunteered to do it.” Jaejoong yawned. He covered his mouth with his hand. “Sorry.”

“It’s only 9pm.” Yunho glanced at his watch. “This could be considered slacking off, you know.”

Jaejoong pouted. “I was tired. It’s exhausting running around after kids all day.”

“Isn’t that part of your job description?” Yunho wasn’t angry at Hero - the twins could be a handful and their antics would tire anyone out. It was just strange since the tendency of most employees was to make a first good impression on their first day of work. Hero was doing the exact opposite.

Jaejoong merely shrugged. “You just got back from work?” He knew he was talking to his boss or the young Master and that he should at least talk respectfully. But Jaejoong was used to every one always being polite to him and not the other way around.

“Yes.” Yunho said. “As a lawyer, my working hours are irregular. Sometimes, I won’t be able to come home for a few days because of a case. When that happens, as the nanny, I expect you to look after and take care of my niece and nephew.”

“But today’s a Sunday!” Jaejoong exclaimed. “You work on Sundays? Normal people don’t work on Sundays.”

Yunho raised an eyebrow. “You’re also working aren’t you?”

Jaejoong stepped closer to Yunho. Yunho took a step back. Jaejoong then held his hands up as if to frame Yunho’s face. “Huh. Your head is small.” Then Jaejoong’s stomach grumbled and he left for the kitchen.

It took a while before Yunho got back his bearings. He huffed. “Well, yours is too big.”

It was the beginning of a strange employer-employee relationship.
