Haven't seen this season. Just finished 2nd on DVD. Yes, everything is interconnected and absurdly so, but that is the standard with comics and they seem to be following typical comic tropes.

Just wait until you see what they do with those tropes in 3rd season.

It's okay to cry a little. I did.

I hate most those tropes to begin with which is why I stopped reading superhero comics for ten years. I just have come to accept them.

Those tropes CAN be cool if done in an interesting way (see Invincible, for instance), but yeah-- I did the same.

And I still dislike most superhero comics. Intensely.

We have four episodes on the DVR right now, and it has slipped to low priority. I'm not jumping ship just yet, and I'm hoping the leadership change will bring good things...but when I'm confused and bewildered by a show that relies heavily on classic comic book hallmarks for the bulk of its storytelling, something has gone horribly fucking wrong.

Dude, I am in the exact same boat as you. I'm still hanging on, because at least the acting and direction are still top-notch. But DAYUM are they dropping some balls, imo.

I'm glad it was there as a vehicle to explain a few things (esp. about the dynamic between the elder Petrellis). However, it *is* getting far to soap-opera-ish and I am sick to death of the alliance switching. Sylar as a good-guy is not doing it for me. I need my main villain to stay a villain, and I just can't believe him when he puts on a knit vest and acts all Clark Kent. It doesn't suit him.

What the hell is going on with Hiro?

Yeah, I do agree that the vehicle to explain things was nice. but why couldn't they have done that last season?
(I'll tell you: Because they didn't have any of that shit written/planned out! lol)

This last ep WAS good in a rebootish sense, I mean, I can see where they are going. It's comics retcon smoothing.

I agree on Sylar. Please to be not making Sylar a member of X-Force, kplzthx.

Hey, at least Hiro isn't bouncing around in time-- aw, fuck it. They're ruining one of my fave chars!

Y'know, that's my OTHER major bitch with the show: the characters act WILDLY out of character whenever the story requires it. It's really jarring, and a pretty big disservice to the characters in general. Grr.

Agreed there. Sometimes it's good, you know, for story. But nearly every ep? Erg. I understand that people are complex, but come on. Jesus. I wish they would just stop trying to showhorn in ratings ploys in order to facilitate lazy storytelling.

Showhorn?

I think that is an apt typo, ja?

I heard that Mark Verheiden was coming on board as a writer. Seeing as I blame him for saving BSG from the throes of the Twelve Lords of Sucksballs, I have a little hope.

Providing that data is true, that is.

Pretty much given up on Heroes now.

They seem to have masterfully written it so that I no longer give a fuck about any of the characters.

QFT.

I find it harder and harder to like the characters I fell in love with.

Let's see...Nathan went nuts...Peter is just..gah...fucking annoying...Claire lost the ability to feel and her personality along with it...they killed off Nikki and replaced her with her previously unmentioned sister who rather than having multiple personalities has none...they've tried to make Sylar a complex villain by...uh...having him do good things sometimes...rather than EXPLORING HIS MOTIVATIONS (oh, wait, it was his mutation that made him evil...and is now making Peter evil too...so he's absolved of any moral responsibility...)...and the single most interesting character in the whole thing, Hiro, has had absolutely bugger all to do since season one (bar being shoved into the past to explore the single most predictable sub-plot in the history of predictable sub-plots)...oh, and what could they think of to do with Suresh, the only human character? GIVE HIM POWERS!

...phew...

...that'll do...

Giving Suresh powers would have been cool...

5th season when they are SUPPOSED to be running out of ideas.

I liked him, too. And they totally peed on him. Bastards.
