TeeVee Observations

Since I'm here on LJ posting, I might as well dip into some observations about my TV watching habits that I find... most perturbatory.

First off, my favourite shows currently are Life, Dexter and Burn Notice. Notice how these aren't fantasy / sci-fi shows. If you know me then you will know this is greatly bothersome, as I'm a huge (like 900 feet!) ( Read more... )

Oh, yeah! I neglected to mention Californication.

How about that season opener, eh? I have a feeling they didn't expect a second season. Good to see the show progress like this.

Let's hope it continues to be good!

The state of fantasty/SciFi tv is abysmal right now. I tried Fringe for a couple episodes and it's just a poor attempt at Millenium/xfiles mashup. I found Sarah Connor chronicles whiney, plus, if it's set just after T2, John is too old. With the plot being such a mess, there is no way I can follow Heros. If plot does not engage me I can't watch.

I've been watching SG: Atlantis but I found I've only been watching for the times that Jewel Staite is on. And pretty much SG any of them became a dumping ground for all other failed SciFi shows(star trek, andromeda, smallville, firely, dark angel).

I agree with Dresden Files. I liked it too. They take all the good ones way.

So I watch Burn Notice, Bones and try to wait patiently for BSG and Dr Who(sue me, it's a childhood thing) to come back.

I like Dr. Who. I just always forget about it... It's one of the few things I never fully got into as a kid. You think I would, with my early life being hugely influenced by UK media.

Still, I never regret watching an ep.

Haven't seen Bones yet. Pretty good?

I think you'd dig The Mentalist. James Randi meets Sherlock Holmes. Some might say House, too, but House is just Asshole Sherlock dropped into a hospital.

So it's a fiction thing? I could not tell from the commercials if it was fictional or another john edwards: fuck with people show. I'd give it a try if it was fiction and not psuedo-reality.

Is Bones pretty good? I'm not sure. I like it cause I like the socially awkward female lead and I'm a sucker for forensic shows. It's better than most of the CSI shows.

I watched the first season of House as I adore Hugh Laurie. But it went downhill fast.

I love BN. Just love it. Mainly for the characters, though.

Life has it all. It's just amazing. I'll be watching the Season 2 kick-off pretty soon. HUZZAM!

There's the comic, which isn't all that bad.

Someone just mentioned to me via email that I should give Fringe a chance. Okay, okay, I'll try to watch an ep when I get a few moments to spare. :)

Second season of The Tudors will own you. Seriously. They get a bit looser with the history, but damn is it good. I hope they continue with the Tudor family line after Henry is dead and gone.

I liked the first part of second season Heroes. I realise I'm in the minority with that one, but I felt when they tried to suck up to fans and wrap everything up so fast due to the WGA strike, they kinda lost me a bit.

Speaking of being lost, a good friend of mine just watched all the eps of Lost in a few days. Based on his recommendation, I just may have to jump on the Lost-wagon soon.
