Though it was not an option, I would go with a tie between firefly and BSG. I was initially a little reluctant to watch the new BSG series when it came out, but with the exception of the series finale, I thought they outdid the original in just about every way possible. If there were ever awards for "best character rewrites" It would get one for Commander Adama and Bhaltar. Lorne Greene always seemed more like "Grandpa Adama" to me. Edward James Olmos version was straight-up, hard-ass military. The old Bhaltar was more like some weasel-snake you'd expect to find strutting around a used car lot in a polyester leisure suit. The new Bhaltar actually had some character depth, internal conflict, and was certifiably schizophrenic (or at least that was the assumption for a while).
Yeah, new BSG kicks the ass of the old one in every which way.
Honestly, the old series is pretty lame. And I own the boxed set. However, Rick Remender recetly wrote some great comics based on Classic BSG. Best old BSG stuff EVER.
Firefly is so far and away the best space show made for American TV that it's just untouchable. But Doctor Who - for sheer scale, scope, imagination and fun, that's been doing it in a class by itself for forty years.
Even when the individual moments are themselves very flawed and/or written by Eric Saward or Pip and Jane Baker, or when the producers were churning out individual episodes unfit to clean Firefly's boots, there's more magic behind Doctor Who's crazy universe than Joss Whedon will ever generate.
Plus: Who had Douglas Adams. None of the other shows listed did.
I will agree with the scope and enjoyability of Doctor Who. I love all the listed shows except V (which I still liked) and FG (which, as everyone knows-- including the lovely lady to played Dale Arden in the classic film-- I hate with an unerring passion of a million suns).
But I picked Space because that show appealed to me the most. I just loved the story, characters, and vision. Firefly was great, too. Both Space and Firefly were killed in their infancy, yet they are two of my all-time faves. then of course, there's the perfection of Bab5 (main series).
I wish the new BSG had less of the soap opera drama and more of the military stuff-- but then it would be Space: Above and Beyond! :)

Farscape is a badass show and one of my top faves of all time.
Know what I forgot? Stargate SG-1. A great show, too. Damn. I knew I overlooked something!
