I am going out to dinner with a friend tonight, a young fella I have not seen in person in 17 or so years now. We are going to a Japanese restaurant that used to be a Benihana. I went there once a long time ago but don't remember much about it. I liked it, I know that, or else we would not be going there tonight. I don't usually give a place a ( Read more... )

Personally, I don't think you always know when you set foot in a place like that. Big fan of Gordon. He's my ultimate crush and I love both those shows. Total foodie and home chef. I'm sad to say I've tried places I thought looked bad and were fantastic. Some that looked middle of the road and others that looked high-end that were shit... or SHITE!!

I have never experienced food poising, perhaps that's why I still like the tine place that's out of the way. I take a chance. Sometimes it's fried crap you know a cockroach has walked on, and others, GOLD.

You notice on the shows that you never see the grading sheets, the ones you see in the window (A, B. C, Etc..) I can't imagine some of those places passing inspection or not understanding food safety after perhaps failing a health inspection.

I've been to dumps with great food and I've been to fancy restaurants that were crap.

I used to watch shows like Ramsay's about restaurants and hotels when I had cable. I could never understand how the owners could be so oblivious (would they eat in such a sad restaurant or stay in a dirty hotel?)and how resistant they were to change. I mean, is what you're doing now working? No. So do something different.

Most of the shows I've seen, yes. Yes they would eat a restaurant or stay in a hotel like that.

Most folks should NOT work hospitality, same as most folks should not work in the medical field.
