I did a prerelease yesterday on not enough sleep. I got tempted by all the shiny artifacts and artifact creatures I pulled and it just made my games take forever. Just say NO to Esper in Limited! Now I'm looking at the cards again and I could have built a much better Naya-based deck. :(
I only started playing in June though, so I guess I'm allowed to make my mistakes. Now I'm going to probably do another prerelease at the other store in the area just to salvage my pride.
I actually 4-0'd a Shards draft with an Esper-centric deck yesterday, for what it's worth. But yeah, the games did take a while.
For Sealed, Naya generally seems like a good option, since it gives you the most mana-ramping and fatties. Shards is a rather slow set overall, which means you'll usually have enough time to hit the 5+ mana threshold and start dropping gigantic creatures. Also, there's fairly little removal for stuff with 4+ toughness.
