If I can make a request: since it's a bagpipe tune, play it like a bagpipe tune. Lots of fiddlers do excessive bowing on it, and it makes me a little sad, since you can't play it that way on pipes. It's got ornamentation where it's needed for bagpipes, and that's sufficient.
Which story do you mean? I'm aware that the tune was inspired by a dripping faucet, but past that, people (at least on thesession.org) don't seem to agree on the specifics.
