Ficlet: Filling the Void
Title: Filling the Void

Summary: Without Sylar, Claire only feels a void.

Claire had gotten used to the attention, there was no mistaking that. Her years as a cheerleader, as Homecoming Queen and never failing to have at least a few admirers at a time had caused her to almost expect to always be the center of attention.
But from the moment she no longer felt him. That she no longer felt his intense, penetrating eyes watching her every move, or his presence lurking in the shadows, she felt another piece of her had died.
The years began to pass and she still couldn’t feel him. She couldn’t even be sure if he was still alive. Why she cared she couldn’t know. Maybe because his survival gave her hope for her own. Maybe it was just comfort in consistency.
Even so that loss began to further eat away at her already gaping emotional void. She had thought losing her ability to feel pain had been bad. Somehow Claire found this to be much worse.
Yes, Sylar was a monster. But he had been her monster and though she would never admit it out loud, she had been forced to finally see just how alike they really were.
Complete with the feeling empty and alone without the other. And both knew nothing would be capable of filling their shared void until they were together again.
When that day would be, Sylar and Claire could only dream.
