Summary: Ryeowook wanted to do something nice for Heechul at Christmas, but perhaps it wasn't a good idea to start so early in the morning...

“WHAT ARE YOU DOING?”

The shriek rang through the kitchen, bouncing off every hard surface, though its intensity seemed to completely miss the one it was aimed at.

Ryeowook turned, smiling obliviously. “Good morning, hyung! I didn’t think you’d be up.”

“I WASN’T.” Heechul retorted furiously, clearly still half-asleep, his clothes and hair completely messed up. “WHY ARE YOU BEING SO LOUD? WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING SO FUCKING EARLY?”

Ryeowook’s smile slipped slightly. “I’m… I’m sorry, I was trying to be quiet…”

“Well, try harder!” Heechul snapped, slamming the door behind him as he turned and left, storming back to bed.

Ryeowook was left by himself in the kitchen, staring at the door, wringing his hands nervously.

“He’s… he’s always grumpy in the morning,” he tried to reassure himself quietly, turning back to what he was doing and trying to be completely silent.

“Hyung? Heechul?” Ryeowook knocked gently on the door.

There was a faint thwump sound from the other side and Ryeowook pushed the door open carefully, nudging aside a pillow that Heechul had clearly just flung at it.

Ryeowook closed the door behind him and approached the bed. “Heechul?”

Heechul raised his head from the other pillow and glared at him blearily, but his eyes widened slightly as they travelled down to what the younger was holding in his hands.

“M-merry Christmas,” Ryeowook said uncertainly. “I made us breakfast…” he clambered onto the foot of the bed and placed the tray next to Heechul, who rolled over onto his back.

“What time is it?”

“Almost nine.”

Heechul groaned loudly. “Ugh, Ryeowook…”

Ryeowook dropped his head. “I’m sorry for waking you up.”

Heechul sighed and looked at the tray beside him, taking one of the plates onto his lap. There were waffles, which Ryeowook had already topped with whipped cream and berries and syrup and Heechul tucked in, only looking up after a couple of mouthfuls. “It’s good.”

Ryeowook beamed, sliding closer, knowing he was forgiven. He pushed the curtains open and took the plate he’d brought for himself, watching Heechul as he ate the food he’d made for him. The older looked out at the snow as he did, chewing on each mouthful thoughtfully. (Or perhaps sleepily. Ryeowook wasn’t entirely sure.)

“Ah! I forgot the coffee,” Ryeowook gasped when they’d almost finished. He’d intended to go back down for it earlier, since his hands were already full with the tray. He gulped down the last of his waffle, scrambled off the bed and out of the room, hurrying back with the mugs. Heechul had finished when he returned, and had placed the tray aside.

Ryeowook offered him one of the mugs.

Heechul took both, pulling them from the slightly confused man’s fingers and placing them safely on the nightstand before holding his arms open.

Ryeowook let out a soft, shy chuckle as he stepped into them, wrapped up in his hyung’s embrace. Heechul chuckled too, thinking how cute the younger looked in his thick socks and old baggy jeans and red sweater, complete with those Christmassy fair isle snowflakes.

“You’re a good dongsaeng,” he murmured into his hair, making Ryeowook blush before taking his chin and kissing him, tasting the sweetness of their breakfast and Ryeowook’s own flavour beneath it.

Ryeowook kept his eyes closed for a moment after they broke apart, then buried his flaming face in Heechul’s chest.

Heechul smiled, reaching for the coffee and sipping it carefully over Ryeowook’s hair.

“Merry Christmas to you too, Wookie.”
