Best karaoke places in Sydney?

We've tried karaoke nights at Kelly's on King Street and the Sly Fox on Enmore Road, but we're interested in what else is out there.

When it comes to karaoke I value good song selection, an MC who isn't too trashy or overbearing, and ideally not completely crowded. If there are any other positives or negatives that you think are important, then by

i'm not exactly a kareoke expert, but i have been to and heard others praise a particular place on elizabeth st in the city....I cannot remember what it's called, though.

I know Karaoke World, and I've paid for a room there before. That's a place that you'd go for an organised event, though (birthday, engagement party, whatever), rather than just a night out (ie, I'd rather somewhere less expensive!).

shanobear use to run karaoke from the taxi club in the city.. but i think he has now moved to mr marys .. he allways does a good show...

Okay well although it's in the city I've always had a blast at Star City's karaoke. It's in the sportsbar downstairs on Friday nights and hosted by a trannie who is hilarious.

My Mum actually hosts Karaoke on a saturday night at the Commercial Hotel in Parramatta.

She's not trashy and definitely not overbearing, the crowds depend on the week, the weather, whats happening etc but most of the time its a smaller, cruisy, fun crowd (I've been a few times).

Positives are that its near a train station, my mum is the mc (bias hehe), my mum is an awesome singer, you get a good mix of talents so it's not all dribble, it's free, its an alright pub AND the food is relatively good!!
