Lately, I've been noticing my glasses are getting too weak. Had a sight checkup a couple of days ago because I'm getting contacts and whoa! It's worse than I thought, and mostly on my right eye. Astigmatism. Party ( Read more... )

This is why I only ever have one pair: my eyes change too frequently to justify having more! I have heard that they're supposed to get better / level out when you stop being a student/reading all the time. Become stupid, and you'll be able to see again!

Although I wear contacts most of the time, the glasses I currently wear are a prescription from over 10 years ago. I've reached the age at which my vision is actually starting to improve-although my close vision is getting worse.

The stronger your prescription, the longer you'll be able to use it-but in any event, don't worry: your eyes are in a constant state of flux for the rest of your life.

I was informed by the optician here, which I experimentally visited after being really disappointed with the last three places I visited, that the reason I tilt my head to the right all the time (something people have been commenting since I moved to sthlm and got a new prescription) is because they corrected the astigmatism wrongly, actually as wrong as it could be. He turned the lens and I went "Oh! It is clear now!" in an amazed voice.

I am probably going to invest in new lenses for the three or four of my pairs (my eight pairs.. Hrrm.)that I wear the most but luckily I actually work for one of those intarweb-cheap-glasses-sites so I can do it relatively cheaply at work. Still costs enough that I am grumpy about it. Meh.
