Russian speech in pictures

This here is a schoolbook for first-graders called Russian speech in pictures (part 1 of 2). Lots of pictures, I may add. It's from 1990, and I know that I had this book when I was little, but I'm not sure that I had it at school, I think I privately inherited it from an older child. This particular copy was bought in Petersburg this summer.

And there's always the fact that while we can rapidly cut and paste Russian presented in unicode text (like LJ entries and comments) into Babelfish, and get a rough idea of what's going on, it's an extremely laborious process to look at an image of russian text and type it in unicode or extended ascii, and then get it into Babelfish. Thanks for the explanations!
