The following is cross-posted from the Wyrdsmiths blog:

Any writer will tell you that getting the cover art for your book is exciting. It is, in essence, both you and your book's face to the world; your chance to make that critical "first impression" and, hopefully, gain a new reader.

It's also pretty cool because, you know, someone is making a ( Read more... )

Lovely! I do so enjoy seeing new series with a proper rapier ready in the protagonists hand. SF/fantasy needs more writers who know which end of the sword to hold! - So what are these "Kin" if I may ask? Is this a trilogy of historical fantasy? high fantasy? I'm afraid in all the years I have known you I have not been exposed to your writing style or your genre preference. Have you published much before? Was it under a pseudonym? I see on SFWA (Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America) this book is listed as your debut? or is that just because you only joined their ranks recently?

But now to the important question: which character in this first book is based on me and in which chapter/book do they die? ;-)

A villain's work is never done; it's only undone. :)

Love it! (I secretly like this one better than the US cover).

A lot of people are saying that. I don't know why, but a number of UK covers seem to rock harder when put up against their US brethren. Something about the differing marketing and artistic sensibilities between the two countries, perhaps?
