Practice last night was fantastic! Why is that, you ask? Well, because we worked on footwork, of course. For two hours straight!

What?, you say. Two hours of walking back and forth? That had to suck!

Well put. Which style is this? Sounds vaguely Meyer.

It's based on Italian rapier. Meyer is, IMO, more cut & thrust oriented than 'rapier' proper, but YMMV.

I do mainly Capoferro, but there is plenty of Fabris and some Giganti influence in there as well. (I wouldn't be surprised if a little Spanish snuck in, along with a dash of classical Italian foil pedagogy, too.) The Italian masters don't talk about footwork to this extent or detail -- the above is an extrapolation based on my experience teaching and fighting in the style.

It was a great class. Our foundation isn't too bad but I know we all need more work on it.
