Emil. I hope you're awake.

Training will start every morning at four o'clock in Xanadu. Don't be late, because I certainly won't wait around for you to arrive.

Today is an exception, but tomorrow I won't accept tardiness.

I'll be waiting.

he can pretend he's okay, replacing his training partner, training, he's doing it right

[ Leon blocked so easily. siiiiigh. ]

Mm! [ Nod nod- and then he repositions himself. A thrust. Right. He can do this-- So he tries to thrust, but it doesn't come out right. Clearly, he's more used to slashing around... ]

Ahh--er?

[What do you expect, he's been training since he was six.]

...That was pathetic. Try again, and put more force so that the attack is faster. If you're too slow, an enemy can just avoid you.

[Blocking blocking~ He's pretty much acting like a training dummy in this kind of scenario.]

Just keep working at it. Practice makes perfect. Try changing it up from thrusting to slashing. You need to be fluid when you shift from one attack to another.

Y-yes!

[ and again, he tries variations... thrust thrust... slash... thrust... slash slash slash-- this is kinda tiring but... Leon has that frown on his face... Emil seriously doesn't want to get yelled at if he stops now! ]

[You wanted to be trained, so just keep doing what Leon says B| He'll yell at you if you half-ass it.

Just keeps parrying |D]

These are the basic types of attacks that you need to master if you want to be able to use artes.

[ Emil the energizer bunny goooo! Or leek... hitter.... *plays the leek song* ... ]

Mm. R-right... it gets easier... right?

Of course it does. You just have to work at it. But once you master the basics, you still have to master the artes that you learn. It's always going to be a challenge to get better.

You just have to be up to it.

[God this is the most Leon has probably said... ever :|]

[Parry parry parry, ohhh looks he's going to decide to slash at Emil to see if the boy is on his toes. Of course, if Emil isn't paying enough attention, he'll redirect his blade.]

[ Hey, Emil has- he pays attention a bit anyway and knows to blooock! But of course, if he blocks, that other hand will go to the hilt for support. DX ]

[Well, it's better than nothing at all. This way he only has to teach him how to block one-handed.]

Not bad, your reflexes are quick enough to block. Try blocking with one hand next time.

[ Oh, arms are shaking a bit ~ ? ]

U-uh. But what if I'm not strong enough to block t-that?!

action!; swordmastering December 12 2009, 03:12:04 UTC
You'll be strong enough to. You simply have to meet your opponent with as much force as they're using to block effectively. You just have to practice, that's all it comes down to.

[ nod nod no-- ]

Do equipment help make you stronger? I-I mean, not that I'm looking for an easy way or anything...
