DA Timeline/Background Lore

Jul 14, 2010 15:08

Finally, something released in anticipation for DA2 that doesn't make my nerd rage froth at the mouth.

Could be useful for fic writers!

This is neat, but not all that impressive. Aside from the little snippets about Kirkwall, most of this was already in the Thedas timeline that's been out since last year.

I know it was mentioned that the Qunari had invaded, but I don't think we knew when and where (aside from butting heads with the Tevinter Imperium)

"6:30 Steel: The qunari land in Par Vollen and conquer it quickly, though word of that does not reach the continent until the qunari ships begin to land en masse in Seheron and northern Rivain in 6:32 Steel."

From here.

Then again, I probably noticed because I'm a huge lore nerd and I've been abusing that timeline for months because of a Dragon Age RP I was in. Haha.

WOO. Thanks for that link. Because I was sure it existed somewhere, but hadn't yet gone out to dig it up. Now I don't have to. :)

What was seen as a disaster turned into a startling victory - a Grey Warden survivor united the kingdom against the darkspawn and slew the Archdemon at the Battle of Denerim, and was declared the Hero of Ferelden.

Such a well worded statement. It does not give the warden a gender, a "Grey Warden survivor" could be either the PC or Alistair, and it doesn't say whether they lived. Excellent. :)

I haven't looked at the other timeline, yet, but I like the new information about the Free Marches and Kirkwall, because I'm interested in the rest of Thedas, too. So, thanks for posting. :) *Memories*

Hm. I wonder how much of this is meant to be gospel truth and how much is legend. They were pretty coy about whether or not the darkspawn origin was truth or legend in DA:O, but this timeline comes out and says it.

It also says Qunari have horns... *stares at pic of Sten* Am I missing something? I don't see any horns...

Maybe they meant Kimari...

Maybe what they meant by "horns and ships that fire thunder" is horns that fire thunder, and ships that also fire thunder. In other words, guns and cannons?

So, DA2 plot will be at least partly about Kirkwall rule and Templar control.

Works for me.
