The Landsmeet

I just got an... unexpected outcome from the Landsmeet. Unexpected from my POV anyway. It's probably just a matter of I'm missing some critical bit of information from Spoiler Town. This is my first playthrough, so that's very possible.

Please help me to understand what happened!!

I am playing a city elf rogue.

1) I talked with Anora, and agreed to back her in the Landsmeet.
2) Talked to Alistair after that... I forget exactly what I said but I did NOT select "I'm backing Anora". The one time I did that, I got -10, so I restored.
3) I cleared out the problems in the Alienage, had the proof of selling the elves into slavery, cleaned the demons out of the orphanage.
4) I went to the Landsmeet and said NOTHING about backing Alistair. OR Anora. I basically just said "we must be united against the Blight" or something like that, and then went through the laundry list of Loghain's crimes. Then all the nobles (except one weasely guy) backed me. It NEVER allowed me to back Anora.
5) It came down to a duel between Loghain and myself or my champion. I let Alistair kill him.... was that my mistake? I've read plenty of times "I let Alistair kill the bastard" or something similar.
6) And then Alistair... accepts the kingship. O.o WTF NOOOOOOOOO! Anora is locked in a tower, but not in a ruthless way that I read described on here earlier. More of a "Here's the plan, lets wait and see" kind of thing.
7) So, of course, the game cuts to the infamous "I have to be king now" dumping scene. He talks about needing an heir, and the Taint, and all that. Again, I don't remember exactly what I chose, but more along the lines of "But what about love?" and that kind of thing. I know I picked "But we don't have to grow old together, now do we?" but other than that I forget.
8) And THEN....right when I think I'm about to restore... this choice appears on my list.

"(Persuade) Being king isn't a punishment, Alistair"
I select that, because I'm a silver-tongued sweet-talking rogue. I have coercion like-whoa (I don't think I failed a single (Persuade) choice in the entire game)
"You're right, you're right, forget I said anything." Or something like that. And the conversation ends.

- He's still at 100% approval.
- He still calls me "my love" when selected in my party (well, randomly, you know how that goes)
- I still get the "I think we need to end this now" dialog option when I talk to him while traveling.

From what I can see, I'm NOT dumped, and the relationship continues. I could be reading the signs wrong, however.

Can SOMEONE explain what happened to me? I'm about 99% sure I won't be his queen, so I'm not jumping that gun. Is it still possible to get Anora to step up, so Alistair can still be a Grey Warden?

On a side note, it IS interesting to see the newly budding more confident Alistair... but at what cost, oh Swoopers? At what cost?

On a side-side note, coming from the girl with an R + L = J tattoo, you KNOW I'm head over heals for the boy, if I'm not backing the royal bastard's claim for the king of the realm. I'm even thinking about calling my human noble character either Ygrette or Daenerys on my next play through.

On a side note to the side-side note, if you love Dragon Age and haven't get read A Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin, go to the book store tomorrow, or Amazon RIGHT NOW and buy yourself a copy. Or the library. Dragon Age is very VERY strongly inspired by this series. There are references everywhere to it, oblique ones, but they're still there. I could write a whole post on those alone...
