Aha! This year I'm only 5 hours and 50 minutes late. Much improvement to last year's lateness. And this year it's entirely my laptop and Microsoft Word's fault. Thanks for eating my fanfic after I saved it. Jerks. (Sorry, working the overnights and about this time I start getting really silly.)
Anyway, this is for
the_flowergirl who enjoys a few pairings, but when she said Hawke/Fenris that's what I latched onto. I hope this is enjoyed. Happy Holidays to everyone here. I love you all!
Title: Never, Always, Forever
Rating: R. There's some sex. Because I have two writing modes for fanfiction: Fluffy and porn. I think I hit it both this time.
Characters Hawke/Fenris, mentions others.
Summary: Set after Best Served Cold. Fenris goes to see Hawke the night she rescues him from being kidnapped.
Fenris paced the length of his room and back, glaring at a cobweb that caught his foot. How could he have let Hawke down like that? How could he have been so weak to be taken down and kidnapped?
When he came to and saw Hawke, he had been more relieved than he had been able to show. Right then he had wanted to both hold her and hide from her in shame. But the haze of the blood magic-induced coma left him struggling for words. All he had been able to do was apologize and thank her.
Now that he had been resting in the mansion for a few hours, he grew restless. The orders from the healer abomination had been to rest since there was nothing more he could do. The blood mage soon-to-be abomination assured him there was no demon near him and he had nothing else to fear.
But resting was not coming easy to Fenris after a short nap. He felt renewed and more alive. And more than anything he wanted to see Hawke. He wanted to thank her again, hopefully this time making it a bit more coherent and meaningful.
The mage could take their advice and shove it. He was well enough to be pacing inside the mansion so he was well enough to see Hawke. He stormed out of the mansion, daring anyone else to try to separate him and Hawke again. No more, he had vowed after Danarius had been finally killed. There was no way he would ever permit anyone the power to separate them again.
“Ah evening, Messere,” Bodahn greeted him when he walked into the estate. “How are you faring?”
“Well,” he answered. He stripped his armor off, at first ignoring the funny look from Bodahn. “Is Hawke here?”
“Yes, she is in the library. Let me take those for you,” Bodhan replied, taking the armor from Fenris.
Fenris thanked the dwarf and made his way up the stairs to the library he knew so well from their reading lessons and long nights drinking wine, laughing together. “Hawke,” he said, walking into the room.
“Fenris?” Hawke asked in surprise. “Are you feeling okay? Are you sure you should be up?”
Fenris smiled, her concern warming him and reinforced his decision to see her. “I am in one piece, thanks to you.”
Hawke returned his smile. She rose from her seat and walked across the room to him. “I am glad.”
Fenris put his hands on her arms, giving into his need to touch her. “You’ve been crying,” he stated, seeing the red in and around her eyes. He then rubbed his fingers in small circles, an act that he knew would comfort her.
“Maybe,” was her only answer after silence.
“You have been,” he insisted.
Hawke let out a shaky breath. “Maybe,” she said again, but this time Fenris understood it was an acknowledgement that yes, in fact, she had been crying earlier that evening. Silence hung over them again. “I almost lost you, Fenris,” she said in a tiny voice that sounded nothing like herself.
“You will never lose me,” he growled.
“All I could think about when we chased your trail down was when Mother was kidnapped,” she confessed and stared at the floor. “I kept hoping I could get to you in time. After losing my parents and my siblings, the thought of losing you was too much.”
Fenris did not reply. He instead pulled Hawke into him, his arms now around her and holding her. “Words cannot express how grateful I am you came for me,” he said in a low tone near her ear. He felt his heart flutter in ways she could only do when she leaned into him and put her arms around him.
“You would have done the same for me.” Fenris thought he could hear from the tone of her voice that a smile had crossed her face.
“They would not live to see the next hour,” he assured her.
Hawke pulled back a little to look him in the eyes. Her hand reached up to touch him, brushing some loose hair behind his ear then continuing down the side of his head and neck. “I can’t lose you Fenris.”
Fenris did not hesitate. He brought one hand up to cradle her head and crushed his lips against hers. His tongue darted into her mouth. She moaned into the kiss, melting into him more than she had already. He broke the kiss for just a moment. “Never,” he assured her before resuming the kiss.
At some point, though Fenris was a little foggy on the details since he was more focused on Hawke rather than where they were, the two managed to make their way from the library into her bedchamber. The way there, he kept his hands and mouth on her, making the couple second trek a little more difficult than it needed to be. But he couldn’t bear being separate from her for that long.
Once inside the room, Hawke broke away to lock the door, but he refused to stop his attention, instead kissing her neck. She moaned again and leaned back into him. He pressed up against her but supported her when she nearly fell forward. Within moments she turned around and their clothes came off faster than they had during their first time together.
Fenris guided her to the bed. Once he laid her down and expanded his oral assault across her entire body. He pushed her hands away when she tried to touch him, only wanting to enjoy her body first. His mouth traveled a path down her stomach and legs, then slowly up her thighs. He relished in the way she cried out in bliss when his lips pressed against her and his tongue danced across her clit. He couldn’t help but moan against her when one of her hands found his head. He was pretty sure he was getting just as worked up as she was when he felt the joints of her fingers lock and her feet pressed hard against the mattress. She cried out louder after finding her release, and he enjoyed every second.
Had he not needed her so badly, he would have continued just for the noises she was making and the way she still clung to his hair. He slid up, placing kisses along her body as he went. “I love you,” he whispered to her, loving the blush that covered her. “Always.”
He slid into her then and was unable to keep himself from groaning along with her. Every time he entered her it seemed like the first time. He began rocking slowly in order to let her adjust to him. But she was so warm and inviting; he soon lost himself in the rhythm and increased his speed. She didn’t seem to mind, judging from the moans growing in volume and the way she rolled her hips against him. A scream that the neighbors had to have heard signaled her finish and finally he gave himself into her, releasing into her.
They laid together on her bed, panting and gasping for air. He brushed away some of her short dark hair that was stuck to her forehead from sweat before rolling next to her. He shifted to his side and pulled an equally exhausted Hawke towards him with an arm that snaked across her waist.
“Stay with me,” Hawke begged. She snuggled closer to him.
“Forever,” he promised with a kiss to the back of her neck.
