The plagues hit the news on a Wednesday. By Friday the word zombies is being thrown around.

They wait for the world to end.

(Supermarkets overflow with crowds filling up their trolleys, emptying the shelves. Doors are locked, chained, bolted. Every channel is showing the news and all the news is the mounting disaster).

But it doesn’t.

I never would have linked your Simon & Garfunkel title to zombies, but there it is. I loved the spiked metal skirts and axe-mounted Roombas. In a zombie world, this is a better use of them than teaching your cat to ride on one. But then your tone shifts and becomes heartbreaking, and that is what makes this such an excellent story.

What a bleak scenario, but such a brave character and willing to do what she has in order to save her child. He is the future, as are all children.
