The company my boyfriend works for is commissioned to build the world's largest Tesla coil (I think he said 50 feet) and I'm really hoping they'll let me see it in person =)
I bet his camera wasn't fast enough to capture it, so I'm thinking it would have been a blur of light even without the flash on.
i didn't follow them today, no, but i ran across a video over the sumer featuring the same technology. i'm glad to see more videos are getting made.
tesla himself built a coil 187 feet tall but that is of course no longer standing. the russians are rumored to have at least 2 very large tesla coils, but if so their existence remains classified. i think the tallest coil officially in existence today is something like 30 ft.
back in the day, i entered college as an electrical engineering major, but trying to work cool/fun stuff like this into the program was like swimming upstream, so i lost interest after the first year.
