I went into town today to innocently do my shopping and found myself going past Chapters. An hour later and I had somehow managed to spend thirty euro on six new books. *facepalm

And what happened to going to the library? I thought today was meant for studying in libraries, not going and buying shiny books of glee and joy -- you promised you'd be miserable and study! *folds arms, taps foot*
Yeah, this was me today. Though the worst part is going through the pile of ten books and having to wheedles it down to a mroe reasonable number, and trying to balance one against the other. :P
I'm such a sucker for secondhand books, and stores too.
I have this thing where I can't break the spine on a new book. But I love the ease of use of a secondhand book, if that makes sense? Still can't bring myself to do it though lol!
Do you have nice bookshops where you are? I'm funny with them - as I like second hand books most of all I prefer shops that have a good selection, or charity shops, but the best are the ones with the huge childrens sections - loads of Paddington and all that. I don't know, I just feel somehow... manipulated by Waterstones or Borders or Easons. But then again, this may just be paranoia.
Honestly, there's not a really good used bookshop in Boston. There are a few, but they're all more on the expensive side and the rare books side, I think, as opposed to genuine miscellaneous stuff. I mean, it's great that you can go and look at old medical books and dictionaries and really nice books of poetry, but I miss having a place with cheap fiction. And yeah, children's lit, especially. I end up buying most of my books online, really - sometimes I'll go to a Borders and browse and make notes on things that look interesting (especially new sci fi), but I do feel like they jack up the prices and carry the same old tired bestsellers.

Well.
I did do three hours study. Which is more than none. And I only bought books of short stories! Reading them is providing valuable context! Honest!

I've got a long-overdue buying spree coming up, as a splurge that I promised myself ages ago and then never got around to. Hmm.
