I'd include WHY you jumped on the opportunity - not just to have a good time, but to obviously further your education.

Also, it sounds kind of stupid to use it as a reason, but there is the reality of the situation with your dad and your family.

I wouldn't try to make it sound like you are TOO financially unstable though, because then they might be like, "WHY the HELL are you even CONSIDERING this?!?!"

I don't know. Maybe I'm full of crap. Spellcheck/grammarcheck before you write it though. You know this.
