OMG. The BEST part of this is Teyla!! I didn't even reread my prompts before diving into the fic and had no memory of what I'd asked for, but this is SOOOOOO wonderfully perfect! :)
I really like how you didn't give in to the romance -- normally I'm a sucker for that, but this kind of unspoken desperation is apparently what I asked for, now that I look at it perfect for this.
John muscling through the pain... is it cruel of me to really love that mental image?

There's a big debt to Melyanna's "Crossroads of Eshu" and also to "Ascent" of course here.

It wanted to go there. You know these two. They want to make eyes at each other and then sneak off and make out like kids. But I wanted to lean more towards canon.

Heh. That's the homage to Mel in this fic. Also the whole thing was darker and people were more banged up but I scaled it back a little in the editing.
