This is Zero. Or Zee, Zed, Skank, Skankabelle, or Wee Skanky Zero. Whatever you call me, this is me. But I'm not here right now, so you know what to do. If you're calling about the other thing, this is the wrong number, so stop sodding calling.

"Skankabelle's Sushi and Tattoo Parlor, what can I do for you?"

"..."

Parker started snickering, which lifted her mood considerably, then said, "What kind of tattoos do sushi get?"

[swerval_zero]

"PARKER!" Zero cried gleefully. Then she cleared her throat and said in a serious voice, "Anchors. And kanji."

Relief that at least *some* phones were working made Parker even more buoyant, and she grinned. "Well, duh. They probably get tattoos of parrots like Fish took don't they?"

"Of course. Except Fish doesn' need tattoos, he's too swerval already."

Parker snickered, and hung her head off her bed backwards, staring up at the ceiling. "Fish pretty much defines swerval. As far as I understand the definition, anyway. Sooo, Janine there? Tell her I'm saying hi." She was trying to think of how to ask 'have you tried to call your boyfriend lately' without being too obvious about it.

"No, she's out with, and I quote, 'some guy,'" Zero reported.

"Ah, I know that guy. That guy you're not sure about yet. So will deny dating later, if your friends meet him after you ditch him." Parker twisted the phone cord around her fingers. "So, Peter get back home okay? Haven't heard from Isabel, yet. She's probably busy with Wyatt." I hope. I really, really hope.

"I assume," Zero said. "I mailed him back his underwear yesterday, so I should probably call sometime to make sure he got it."

"..." Such pauses were common occurrences with Zero, although they'd grown less common over the years. "Riiight. So anyway. Wanted to see when you wanted to visit me here in Oxford. Or at least narrow it down to a weekend or three. I'm looking at a very, very boring Thanksgiving, and possibly a whole month worth of subverting the London office of my father's company. So your presence would be delightful and welcome, and you could meet Nourhane and bond."

To tell or not to tell about phone lines that were down. Tell. Or Not Tell.

Zero was oblivious to the pause, or maybe she was just used to that reaction. "I was thinkin', we've both got almost two weeks after New Year's before classes start back up, so maybe around then? Or even at New Year's, maybe, I don't know."

[mparkerceo]

"Hmmm. That sounds good. If Angel's hosting the L.A. party thing again, I might be in L.A. for New Year's itself, but yeah, I have two weeks to kill after that. We can make evil plans while you're here, get into the kind of trouble I can't get away with during the semester." She yawned a little. "One week until Finals. God, just kill me."

"No can do, sorry," Zero told her. "You've gotta live. You can do this! We have evil plans to make!"

[mparkerceo]

"True." Parker rallied momentarily to add, "And I haven't seen you on MTV yet. I don't get to die until your magnum opus is show on consecutive weekends, and Tom Cruise throws things at your camera."

"Patience, padawan" said Zero. "The hour is at hand. Or will be when I get back from Thanksgiving."
