I know some are tired of the whole BBM lost the BP topic, but I am not.
This must read article is the definitive reasoning as to why the Crash win happened and why it was so wrong. It clearly and concisely outlines the facts.
Did you catch Sara Jessica Parker on Conan last night. Here is why BBM lost best pic cause idiots like her who are members of the academy and had the screeners did not watch the film. She is a complete tool. She thought it was a cute story about how she didnt make time to watch it but ran some of it for her son. And then she told Conan that even though she didnt see all the films nominated, she voted anyways. Maybe if you and the rest of the lazy asses at the Academy took the time to actually do your job and watch with care all the best picture nominees, the right film would have won.
Yes I did write a letter to the Oscar people about how fucked up their choice was. I have no beef with people who took the time to view all the films and chose Crash. I have a damn problem with the members who didnt even bother to watch BBM and voted anyways. And i fear there were alot of them.
That was a very good article. I'm glad that everyone's being so vocal in their outrage over what happened on Sunday.
It's sad that the people who actually wanted Crash to win because they felt it was a great movie have to deal with all the anger, but it's quite evident that there was an active campaign (and I'm not talking about Lion's Gate) to make sure that Brokeback wasn't going to get the award.
It doesn't make any sense. None at all, especially when you have members of the Academy (Tony Curtis) going on a national news network (Fox News) and saying that he and other older members wouldn't even watch Brokeback, because of its theme?!
What will be significant is the perception that the industry, far from being out of touch with mainstream moviegoers, is so terrified of offending them that it will sell out the credibility of its awards to avoid doing so.
And that is the nitty gritty, folks. Thanks for that.
