Oh, cool blending of these two storyverses! I love Jane's fierceness here, and how you honor the women of the story as the Black Jewels universe would.
Someone else who has read the books! \o/ I'm glad you liked it, and thought I did right by them. That was one thing that made a huge impression on me when I was younger - how powerful the women in that universe were, whether in terms of physical, political, or psychic strengths. So much hinged on them, and they were never broken simply for effect.
I love all those books. They shouldn't work with the overlysimplified magic system but somehow they're awesome.
Jane's character here reminds me of Cassidy in a way, in the way she has strong ties to the land, her land, but her insecurities that she's neither an Asgardian nor a Queen. Really worked for me!
