That was painful to watch but so amazing at the same time. An out married gay man who was elected councilman in Texas? That is proof right there that things get better.

I find that the "It Gets Better" stories such as this one are worth ten times as much as the celebrity ones because people are better able to relate to an everyday person. He didn't have to find fame and money to show it gets better, he just had to find the right people in his life to support who he was.

You're welcome. I've been sharing this video with everyone I know because it brings home the message of GLBT want and strive for the same things as everyone else. To stop bullying, it will have to start in the homes of the children who think it's okay to harm someone because they maybe different.

I totally agree with you that his non-celebrity status is more identifiable to the everyday person. His response was the most beautiful and eloquent of the "It Gets Better" videos that I've seen.
