SUMMERY Artie can't do things like everyone else can.
There were things that Artie just couldn't do like everyone else could. Being in a wheelchair really limited him to some things, it was something he knew. And maybe it was depressing but it was something he realized, and pretty much accepted. It sucked a lot but it was just the way things were.
There were things that he just wouldn't ever be able to do, and because of that he wasn't always included. Like when Puck got guilted by Rachel to invite all of the Glee club to his birthday party where they would be paint balling in the woods. Artie had been invited even thought it was with a little comment about how he wouldn't even be able to do it anyway. Artie said he could, and he was going to. But he had called at the last minute and made up some last minute excuse about not being able to come because some family thing. And he hated Puck just a little more for the unconvinced knowing "I told you so" tone of voice.
There were things Artie was never going to be able to do, and everyone realized this. Everyone except one person.
Brittany. He was pretty sure she understood that he didn't have the use of his legs, but he didn't know if she understood what that meant exactly. Because if she came up with some choreography she always included him, a lot. It was nice sometimes, her making sure whatever musical number they did he wasn't pushed off to the side. And it was nice that she never made him feel inadequate if she was the one who was partnered with him. If there was one person that could make any person feel inadequate with dancing with them it was Brittany.
But it was annoying when she insisted he come and do everything all the other glee clubbers were doing. Like when they went ice skating, or went to an amusement park, he said he couldn't and she pouted at him like he hurt her feelings or something. And Artie knew he shouldn't feel bad, it wasn't his fault. And for the longest time he didn't know why she cared so much, and why she always wanted to know if he was going to be wherever they were all going.
She liked him. She, Brittany, the pretty blonde Cheerio who was a savant when it came to dancing and who everyone loved, had a crush on him. Him, Artie Abrams, the AV gleek who couldn’t move his legs and who most people just knew as that kid in the wheelchair.
Now, don't get him wrong. He was happy with how things were going for him, they were better then they ever had been. He had Tina, and he liked her, he really cared about her. And to be honest Artie was pretty sure Brittany was more in love with Santana then anything else. But that didn't mean she had any less of a crush on him. He figured it, like Brittany, was completely harmless though. But that didn't mean it didn't make him feel a little better about himself.
Everyone around him seemed to realize that there were things he was never going to be able to do. Everyone except one stupid, sweet, blonde Cheerio. And he loved her a little bit for it.
