Chemical Peel and ShiKai product reviews (face, eye and body products)

I've been meaning to post about this for a while but I keep forgetting.

I had a retinoic acid peel and Jessner's peel on Dec. 8th.  The peels were applied sequentially.  They have a watery characteristic, not gelatinous in nature, and are about the consistency of a regular toner.  When I thought of chemical peels I always imagined some sort of gel ( Read more... )

Wow. I had a room-mate who LOVED to get chemical peels done. She looked really scary and had severe flaking for about a week, but she just thought it was the best thing ever! 8D

Did she do them herself? Do you remember what kinds she got?

I have never been more thrilled to have nearly clear skin. Acne has been a persistent plague in my life for the past 13 years and I never knew these kinds of results were possible without prescriptions like Accutane.

so this is working well for you? i have had minor acne for like 15 years now - not cystic, and little enough that the derms don't want to take it seriously, but enough that it really really bothers me and often i end up picking at it (i know - but skin-picking is related to other issues i have too). i also, like you, have extremely sensitive skin - and i seem to be allergic to benzoyl peroxide. recently i read people were having really good results with coconut oil so i tried that - for a few days my skin looked younger than it has in many years, felt incredible, etc. Then I broke out and waited long enough to be sure it wasn't just an "initial" breakout with the skin getting used to things. Now I'm back to my old prescription stuff (prascion cleanser, clindamyacin, and finacea) which has worked ok for awhile but not great, and my skin still isn't really clearing up AND it looks old and tired again. so - are peels only good for cystic acne? do they help scarring/red spots?

I understand about the picking as I have been doing it as a compulsive behavior since the age of four ( ... )

Wow, than you so much for posting this. I have had acne since I was 11 years old and it has recently been the worst I've had in years! Very frustrating. I have been toying with the idea of a peel for a while, and I think I might spring for one of the home versions. I always chicken out. It would be good while it's still chilly and not tempting to be outside much. hehe.

A peel is probably worth looking into, for sure. I completely understand the frustration, obviously!

I started peeling a little bit but not too much so we will see what happens over the next few days. There are a few dry patches although nothing too obvious or hideous. If anyone were to actually notice the dryness they would probably just think it was from the cold weather.
