Oh geez, I just ordered yet another wig for yet another cosplay I've been inspired to do at the last minute. Hopefully I'll get it done for Kumoricon. If not I'll wear it for Halloween and then use it for conventions next year.

Oh, and now I bought ear tips (scroll down, ears #K). Yeah, it looks like I'm totally doing this costume ( Read more... )

at least you start with a concept! ;-)
my way is to be out shopping somewhere and see some fabulous fabric, or hat, or jewelry, and go... ooooh. that would make... something costumey.

keep us updated! (still working on my Jenka outfit, having a hard time figuring out how to do the breastplate.)

Haha, I know exactly what you mean. I'm especially bad with that at Michael's. They've got so many things that just make me go "Oooo! I could totally see that on this costume, or I could totally make a piece of jewelry out of that!"

So I just talked to a friend today at work who said that he once made his own Garthim costume. He ended up selling it on eBay for $2k.

If I had grown up to become a misogynist that line would of been to blame. I didn't like that character much to begin with but that snotty comment put me over the edge.
It probably is one of the contributing factors to my general elf-hate.
Grrrrrr.....

Sorry, I'd been trying not to rant about that bit since the first post but I couldn't help it. Grar.

Male gelflings don't have wings. She was just stating a fact. It's like someone saying, "Well of course you don't have a penis. You're a girl!" No woman would get offended if a man told her that, would she? She might be a little confused or maybe laugh at him, though.
